how can I fall asleep at night

today was such a grey overcast day and for some reason I just
thought of this song ...

I remember the first time I heard it ... and it still astounds me
every time I listen to it

definitely in the same league as SILENT ALL THESE YEARS
- and there's not many songs that I would say that about.

I need to see him live - and I will - the next time he comes to
the UK. I won't do my usual trick of planning to go see someone

and then just never going ...

Hope there's someone
Who'll take care of me
When I die, will I go

Hope there's someone
Who'll set my heart free
Nice to hold when I'm tired

There's a ghost on the horizon
When I go to bed
How can I fall asleep at night
How will I rest my head

Oh I'm scared of the middle place
Between light and nowhere
I don't want to be the one
Left in there, left in there

There's a man on the horizon
When I go to bed
If I fall to his feet tonight
Will allow rest my head

So here's hoping I will not drown
Or paralyze in light
And godsend I don't want to go
To the seal's watershed

Hope there's someone
Who'll take care of me
When I die, Will I go

Hope there's someone
Who'll set my heart free
Nice to hold when I'm tired

youtube comments:

remember hearing this for the first time, it stopped me in my tracks
and brought me to tears, not many songs do that for me. pretty unique
guy.

I have never listened to this and not cried.

I don't have an opinion. All I know is that it's raining outside and this
is one hell of a beautiful song.

dissolving here,melting,disappearing... touching my past and future
wounds,and becoming a scar again...

Beautiful ! It simply rips my heart everytime I hear it. Pure genius.

It's one of those rare songs that simply prove music can be art

I can only feel love for this man... There is not many songs who can
speak right to my heart, like this one do....

1:07 is one of the most awkwardly beautiful moments I've ever seen.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful songs ever, I'm bawling
like a baby every time I hear it..Pure genius

This song brings tears to my eyes

Ridiculously underrated, hauntingly beautiful.

is beauty skindeep - what is beauty - define it for me - the voice -
the words - the soul - how can we talk with our heads instead of
understanding with our hearts.

He speaks to our hearts-Close your eyes and listen

Just discovered this. Teacher let us hear it in class. Everyone was
like 'pfff' and I loved it. I'm glad he named the band, I don't think
I'd dare to ask after it since I was the only one who liked it. Liked
it very very very much. :)

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Christmas!!
here's a Christmassy song for you all :)

it's a cover of 2000 Miles by The Pretenders (a song I already
love)
... this is a great cover by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
I discovered it around February time, on a bright crisp Winter's
day and even though Christmas had long gone, it was just so

damn perfect and filled me with such a great feeling ... I knew
then that there was only 1 song that I could be posting as my
Christmas video.

what I love about this cover, is that it's not the usual upbeat
MMB thing (which I love - I love this band!!) - but I think it
would have taken away from what makes this song *so special*
... they've kept it really close to the original - and dare I say it,
made it EVEN BETTER ... just how it's all lush sounding ... and
beautiful.

it makes me think of the Pogues 'Fairytale of NY crossed with
the Dropkick Murphys - it's definitely got that whole irish-U.S
punk feel going on - and just begs to be sang around a campfire
at the top of your lungs.

and JUST THAT BEGINNING ... it melts my heart. haha
(I'm not even joking!)

hope you all have a lovely day.

all the troubles and fears you've for years tried to forget

I've re-discovered my love of HIM ... and it perfectly suits the
recent grey skies that have arrived ... I know that if it was still
sunny, there's no way these songs would be impacting me as
much

I've not played any HIM for years (seriously YEARS!!) ... but the
past few days I've only listened to the below 2 songs!! - but that's
kinda how I am(!) ... I obsessively get back into a band, plan to go
see them when they next tour ... and then drift off (into another
band!) and forget all about my previously planned-plans .. haha!!
but anyway all this has got me thinking back to when I saw them
live - and mad that I've let so long go by without seeing them again

It's funny how a change of season can get you instantly reaching
for certain albums ... I know that it won't be long until I am playing
Little Earthquakes again (I can already feel myself reaching for it!)
but I find that regardless of the time of year, that's an album that
every few months I always end up turning to ... I don't think any
other album has such a strong hold over me - and I don't know if
it's a good or bad thing to almost need songs that much ...

anyway let me know what you think to these songs
the orchestration in IN JOY AND SORROW particularly gets me
and in FUNERAL the musical interlude bit at 2.14 and then just
2.56 onwards - geez

do you like HIM?
what songs have you been obsessively playing lately?
